New York Central "Mohawk" #3001. 4-8-2 Type L-3a Built by Alco 1940. The #3001.is on display today at the National New York Central Museum in Elkhart, Indiana. It was one of 600 "Mohawk$#34; locomotives which powered NYC's high speed freight and passenger trains. Only two remain today. #3001 was saved when the City of Dallas acquired it for a park display - to stand in for a vandalized Texas & Pacific locomotive. Stoddart's artwork starts with a CAD model built from photos. To create the 3-D effect, the CAD model is broken into layers and many individual parts - which are precision cut using laser machines. Our artwork is available in two different sizes both sharing the same level of detail. Our large Wall Art is impressive - its 3-D detail is constructed of layers of painted wood composite material. It hangs easily from a nail or screw on your wall. Our Shadowboxes are an elegant way to display artwork along with the famous railroad logo. Shadowbox models are made using acid-free matboard and are available in either black or cherry frames.
